With Gratitude
This work has been and continues to be shaped by the communities and people I work with and learn from.
In the world of ideas, I am indebted to the scholars, thinkers, and practitioners of Black, Queer, Dalit, Indigenous and Decolonial Studies, Narrative Practice, Poststructuralism, and Feminism. These practitioners have unmade and remade me, taught me compassion, justice and joy.
I have been profoundly moved by my teachers: Lata Mani, who taught me that there is always room for complexity in simplicity, and compassion in justice. Rod Owens, whose teachings illuminated the wisdom of anger and grief. Justin Von Bujdoss, for teaching me spaciousness and being quiet. Sankara and Ramana, who opened the door of self-knowing. Poh Lin Lee, Jill Freedman, David Denborough and all my Narrative Therapy teachers and co-practitioners at the Dulwich Centre.
Every young person I have ever worked with has been my teacher. You trusted me with your tenderness and incredible wisdom. Thank you.
And to my beloved community of friends, family, healers, and colleagues who have held me, challenged me, and walked with me: you are in everything I do.
